Freya Greene

Freya is a 16-year-old period awareness advocate and youth activist from the UK. She campaigns to challenge stigma and shed light on the experiences of girls whose painful or severe menstrual symptoms are often dismissed or misunderstood. She is committed to ensuring young people have the knowledge and confidence to understand their bodies and seek support when something doesn’t feel right.
Her leadership journey began through student councils and youth programmes, where she represented her peers and helped secure a £1,500 grant for a female hygiene initiative. She later became a BBC Children in Need Young Leader and a GoHenry Dream Big Winner, using these platforms to amplify conversations around girls’ health and wellbeing.
Driven by her own struggles with period pain, and by witnessing older women around her navigate conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids and perimenopause, Freya founded a teen-led period campaign focused on education, open conversation and peer support. She is currently developing the idea for a period education app designed by teens, for teens.
Through both advocacy and creative expression — including visual poetry and short films — Freya continues to empower girls to feel informed, supported and confident in advocating for themselves.
