Workshop: Everyone’s An Artist with Bryony Kimmings

As children we all draw, sing and make pretend. At some point for most of us those urges are either schooled out or forgotten to the daily grind. Yet lockdown has shown us that in times of great strife we find solace, safety and joy in creativity. Performance Artist, Musician and Screenwriter Bryony Kimmings is adamant everyone is an artist and can access the wellbeing and self esteem benefits that come from creative tasks.

Join her as she hosts a therapeutic, fun and physical 1.5 hour workshop to introduce quick, and painless exercises to put creativity firmly back into your daily life, inspired by your own autobiography. Techniques to release those learnt behaviours of embarrassment and ego that disconnects you from the playful child within. LET'S DO THIS.

This workshop is open to everyone and will take place on Zoom. You will be sent joining details before the event.

This event will be captioned and have BSL interpretation.

For this workshop you’ll be part of a large group led by Bryony - book early to secure a place!

This event is part of WOW UK Festival 2021, our three week digital programme of groundbreaking In Conversations and interactive workshops. For this year’s festival, we are offering audiences the chance to pay what they can for tickets from £1 upwards. If you’re able to pay a higher ticket price, your contribution will include a donation to help WOW continue its work fighting for gender equality all year-round.

About Bryony

About Bryony:

Inspired by the taboos, stigmas, anomalies and social injustices around her, Bryony Kimmings creates mind-blowing, multi-platform art works to provoke change. The work centres around outlandish 'social experiments' that Kimmings conducts with genuine genius, intrigue and wholehearted fearless gusto. The artist sets her sights on the impossible and unconquerable, and turns the unspeakable into the years’ hottest topic. Kimmings also mentors artists, writes musicals, teaches workshops, writes films, speaks on panels and is sometimes on the telly.

Previous works have seen the artist retracing an STI to its source, spending 7 days in a controlled environment in a constant state of intoxication and becoming a pop star invented by a 9 year old. Bryony’s award winning work has toured across the world, including: Perth Festival, Sydney Opera House, Arts Centre Melbourne, Brisbane Powerhouse (Australia), HOME Manchester, Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, Battersea Arts Centre's Grandhall (UK), Antifest (Finland), Culturgest (Portugal), Fusebox Festival (Texas), The Southbank Centre, Melbourne International Comedy Festival (Australia) and Lisinski Operahouse (Croatia).
