Feminist Artivisms
Launch of the Young Artivists Collective
A celebratory gathering marking ten years of the women’s collective Mulheres ao Vento and the launch of the Young Artivists as a new women’s collective in Maré.
The event will feature the interactive 360-degree installation Artivismos Feministas, bringing together photography, street posters (lambes), graffiti, texts and documentary film created by the young women involved in the Feminist Activism amongst Youth in Brazil (FAYB) project. Exploring the intersections of territory, gender and generations, the installation centres the experiences of Black women from the favelas and invites audiences to participate through drawing, writing and collective reflection.
This project is part of a wider research called Feminist Activism Among Youth in Brazil (FAYB), a partnership between King’s College London, WOW-Women of the World, Redes da Maré, People’s Palace Projects and Queen Mary University of London. Funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
