Watch this script-in-hand performance of Lucy Kirkwood’s Maryland at the WOW Festival, an immediate, extraordinary, communal rallying cry in response to the normalising of horrific actions being committed against all women and victims of gendered violence.

This play was for many years a private conversation with myself... I hesitate to even call it a play when it is simply a howl, a way of expressing what I feel about a culture of violence against women, but I am sharing it because I wonder if it might express a little of what other people feel about it too.“ Lucy Kirkwood.

Maryland was first performed at the Royal Court Theatre over three weeks with a rolling cast of 50 actors and has been made available for people to stage their own readings around the country.

This performance is presented by the Royal Court Theatre, and is co-directed by Milli Bhatia, Vicky Featherstone and Lucy Morrison.

The performance will be followed by a panel with members of the creative team. Details to be announced soon.

This event is Captioned.

Please note, latecomers will not be admitted.

WARNING: Maryland contains sudden, loud sound effects throughout.
