Our childcare costs match those of our rent or mortgage, but our childcare practitioners are some of our lowest paid workers.
This highly gendered and poorly paid workforce are the architects or our children’s brains with 85% of a child’s brain developed in these first early years.
Underfunded and on its knees, how can we focus in on the reform needed for this most foundational societal infrastructure and make early childhood fairer, equal, intergenerational, equitable and more radical.
In this session led by Amy Martin we’ll hear great examples from overseas, historical underpinning, pedagogical brilliance and discuss together how we can imagine a future of more radical childcare. Amy will be joined by TV presenter, podcast and performer Nigel Clarke, who is also the founder of breakthrough parenting platform Dadvengers.
Amy is founder of #RadicalChildcare, which seeks to explore ways to imagine bold new possibilities for the future of childcare, children and families.
This discussion is open to everyone and will take place on Zoom.
The deadline for booking BSL interpreting and/or captioning has now passed, however we want the festival to be accessible to as many people as possible. Therefore if you would like to request either, please email email@example.com and we will endeavour to book this for you, subject to our access provider's availability.
You’ll be part of a large group led by Amy - but do book early to secure a place! In partnership with #RadicalChildcare.
This event is part of WOW UK Festival 2021, our three week digital programme of groundbreaking In Conversations and interactive workshops. For this year’s festival, we are offering audiences the chance to pay what they can for tickets from £1 upwards. If you’re able to pay a higher ticket price, your contribution will include a donation to help WOW continue its work fighting for gender equality all year-round.
