Reclaim the Night

Reclaim the Night returns to Rotherham Town Centre!

Working with local businesses and venues, we will light up the town centre and celebrate our high street. Expect joy, hope, and inspiration. Free for all ages, all genders and men are encouraged to attend as allies.

Reclaim the Night has been prominent in cities and towns across the UK for nearly five decades. Its initial message in the 1970s was the rage and anger that women felt about being given curfews in response to severe violence against women and girls. These reactions are still prevalent today, as women show their fury at having to take extra measures to ensure their own safety within their daily lives.

This year's event begins on the High Street in Rotherham Town Centre, where there will be workshops, performances and activities to enjoy at Three Cranes, Hopian and Guild of Games. The walk will leave Snail Yard on the High Street and loop through the town centre before finishing at Rotherham Town Hall where you can hear inspiring women share their stories. Return to The Three Cranes from 8pm to join their craft group as they run a very special ‘intro to crochet’ session.
