Come and hear how bestselling and award-winning creators Emma Carroll and Lauren Child reworked this Hans Christian Andersen tale into a new feminist classic, introducing a bold new heroine for future generations to treasure in The Little Match Girl Strikes Back. Chaired by Eleanor Dryden, Co-Founder of the Feminist Book Society.
In this event for children, through interactive storytelling and discussion creators Carroll and Child introduce the little girl Birdie, who works hard to feed her family selling matches on the streets of Victorian London and realises she has the power to change her own fortune.
There will also be the opportunity to ask the creators all about how they shaped Birdie’s story.
A defiant and empowering retelling of the classic you thought you knew, based on real-life events, this special family event at WOW will bring to life in glorious spot colour a bold new heroine for future generations to treasure.
