Celebrate International Women's Day at the Royal Albert Hall at an unforgettable evening marking 15 years of WOW - Women of the World with Jude Kelly, headliner Angela Davis and guests including Annie Lennox, Sandi Toksvig, Anoushka Shankar, Errollyn Wallen, Liz Carr and Jordan Stephens.
Hosted by WOW FounderJude Kelly, this one-off event filled with music, thought-provoking conversation and joy will welcome to the stage a host of special guests in a powerful tribute to the incredible achievements of women, girls, and non-binary people across the globe. Whether you’re new to WOW or a long-time supporter, everyone is invited to celebrate the positive changes the world has seen towards gender equity, explore the setbacks, and look to the future together at this once in a lifetime event.
Jude Kelly will be joined by an extraordinary line-up of speakers including Annie Lennox, Sandi Toksvig, Anoushka Shankar, Errollyn Wallen CBE, Jordan Stephens and Liz Carr. Annie Lennox will share her vision for the future and insights from founding the global feminist charity, The Circle
Legendary activist Angela Davis will be headlining. From being on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list to becoming one of the most sought after speakers in the world, Davis will discuss love in activism, hope and healing, along with her love of the blues, and her dreams for the future.
The night will also feature breathtaking live music, including a performance by eleven-time GRAMMY-nominated composer, activist, and sitarist Anoushka Shankar. In a rousing performance, a 150-strong choir aged eight to 80 years old will premiere a new choral piece commissioned to celebrate WOW’s 15 anniversary by celebrated composer Errollyn Wallen with Rachel Mahon on the organ. Organist Anna Lapwood will perform a newly commissioned fanfare for the Royal Albert Hall's organ, specially composed by Isobel Waller-Bridge.
Over the past 15 years, WOW has shifted the dial on gender equity building a global movement reaching millions across six continents. WOW has been the catalyst for the launch and success of countless campaigns, supported 1000s of activists to go faster and further and brought previously taboo subjects into the mainstream. And always with humour, energy and passion.WOW at 15 will be BSL interpreted by Rebekah Spencer and Grace Buckle for Performance Interpreting and Live Captioned by My Clear Text.
