Developed through Redes da Maré long-standing partnership with the Museum of Vassouras (located in Rio’s countryside), the second WOW Rio Warm-Up will be a full-day programme focused on history, memory and reparation. Taking place in a region deeply shaped by Brazil’s colonial plantation economy and its legacies, the day will bring together workshops, performances, talks and discussions exploring the relationships between the past and present. Through dialogue, creative practice and participation, the programme will consider questions of historical memory, gender, colonialism and reparation in relation to the local context and community.
