Young Feminist Artivists
at Casa das Mulheres da Maré Anniversary
As part of the anniversary celebrations of Casa das Mulheres da Maré and the closing of the Comida de Favela gastronomic festival, the Young Feminist Artivists will take over the public square in Parque União to present their collective, creative work and methodological materials. The 90-minute programme will include poetry, a participatory flag-making workshop exploring identity, gender and the experiences of young women from peripheral communities, the launch of the collective’s Methodological Guide, and a screening of the short film Untangling Oppressions.
This project is part of a wider research called Feminist Activism Among Youth in Brazil (FAYB), a partnership between King’s College London, WOW-Women of the World, Redes da Maré, People’s Palace Projects and Queen Mary University of London. Funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC)
