Angela Davis joins WOW Global 24

Angela Davis has joined the line-up for WOW Global 24, The WOW Foundation’s first ever free global festival that will be streamed live on this website over 24 hours from 9.30am 27 June (GMT).

The legendary activist, writer and academic will be speaking live at the festival on The Global Channel to discuss some of the key themes of WOW Global 24 with WOW Founder Jude Kelly; from Black Lives Matter to the potential ramifications the pandemic poses to the fight for gender inequality.

Other speakers confirmed for The Global Channel include The WOW Foundation’s President HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, Former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Indian disability and gender rights activist Nidhi Goyal, former President of Ireland Mary Robinson; and Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women.

The line-up also includes Patrick Stewart, Nobel Prize winner Svetlana Alexievich, author Mikki Kendall, Sister Helen Prejean, Executive Director of Hawaii’s Commission on the Status of Women Khara Jabola-Carolus, Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, County Director of mothers2motherseducation Ilda Kuleba,activist from Sierra Leone Chernor Bah, writer Jane Caro, and Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Christiana Figueres.

Actors Gillian Anderson and Thandi Newton will also perform readings.
