WOW Australia heads on the road

WOW Australia has been on the road for a series of WOW Think Ins across regional and rural Queensland to help shape its 2021 plans.

Next year WOW Australia will deliver a series of events across Queensland as an alternative to the multi-day Brisbane based WOW Australia Festival. 2021's range of smaller gatherings and activities will celebrate the achievements of women and girls living in remote and regional areas and build program ideas for another major Festival in Brisbane in 2022. The programme is supported by its Principal Partner, the Queensland Government.

In true WOW Australia style, all the events will be developed locally by communities and contribute to the economic, cultural and social recovery of Queensland. Each of the events will see a partnership with a regional or remote organisation, building local capacity, as well as enabling knowledge exchange between rural and urban changemakers.

To help the team plan, WOW Think Ins have taken place in places including Cairns, Longreach, Barcaldine, Charleville and Blackall. WOW Think Ins take place in the run up to all major WOW Festivals. They're a chance for people to come along and discuss the gender issues they are their local communities are facing, and have their say on what the festival should explore.

This year, WOW Australia's Think In have also focused on the impact that the pandemic has had on people and their families.

More information on WOW Australia's exciting 2021 programme will be announced in the coming weeks. Until then, find out more about their work on the WOW Australia website and sign up to their newsletter here.
