WOW Day of the Girl at the London Eye

22 Oct 2021

Blog Post

To mark this month's International Day of the Girl, earlier this month we celebrated today by flying hundreds of school girls and their dreams over London at WOW's annual event featuring 120 inspiring women on the lastminute.com London Eye.

This unique levent offers 150 secondary school girls and non-binary young people (aged 14 to 18-years old) from 20 schools across London and beyond the unique opportunity to soar above London and meet 120 highly influential and inspiring women. This year mentors included Kathy Lette, Fatima Manji, Amy Lamé, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Fatima Manji, Nusrath Hasan, Shevaun Haviland, Jude Kelly and hosts of The Receipts Podcast Tolani Shoneye, Audrey Akande and Milena Sanchez. Each school girl was matched with three different mentors for 15-minute mentoring sessions, with mentors from across a wide range of professions and industries including film, media, engineering, sport, politics, science, finance, transport, fashion and campaigning.

We were proud that some incredible women from our Global Founding Partner Bloomberg and Global Partner Mastercard were mentors. They spoke to us afterwards to talk about the experience and share the advice they wished they'd been given when they were young.
