I was a (fabulous) 21 year old trans girl living on rough a council estate, I didn't have money or contacts to get involved in the fight against transphobia, but I had nail polish and (a questionable amount of) confidence, so I started travelling around the UK with my pop-up nail salon offering people free manicures, giving them the chance to sit down and have a chat with a trans person to break misconceptions and make allies. Charlie Craggs is an award-winning trans activist, author and media personality dubbed ‘the voice of a community’ by Vogue, best known for her national campaign Nail Transphobia, her LAMBDA nominated book To My Trans Sisters and her BBC documentary Transitioning Teens. In 2016 Charlie topped the Guardian's New Radicals list of social innovators in Britain and has gone on to be the recipient of a Marie Claire Future Shaper Award, front global campaigns for brands like The Body Shop, H&M and Selfridges, and speak at the Houses of Parliament.
