16% of the world’s population are disabled people. A society that does not recognize disability as a natural part of human diversity and does not integrate it into education, art, culture — everywhere — is a society that will never be complete, something will always be missing. At Black Light Social Cooperative Enterprise, we work toward a world that is inclusive and equitable.
Chrysella Lagaria was born in Athens and has been blind since birth.
She studied Psychology at Panteion University in Athens and worked in various mental health services. From 2013 to 2017 she worked as a guide, Social Media Manager, and guide trainer for the interactive experience Dialogue in the Dark at Badminton Theatre. In 2017, together with a team of employees from Dialogue in the Dark, she co-founded the Social Cooperative Enterprise Black Light, where she serves as General Director. Black Light is the first organisation in Greece to train businesses in serving blind consumers and in issues of accessibility and inclusion.
She has also served as Secretary of the Board and Project Manager at the volunteer organisation Reading To The Others, and since 2022 she co-hosts, together with Theodoros Tsatsos, the podcast Zoume, Re on Lifo.gr.
