Katerina Sofianou
Senior High School student, Founder of Remade Designs
The Hope Brigade Athens, 2026
Beauty lies not in perfection, but in what has lived, changed, and transformed. In a fast-paced world that pressures us to look alike, I choose to create with purpose: to give new life to materials and stories, always reminding people that imperfection is not a flaw, but identity.
Katerina Sofianou is the founder of Remade Designs, an innovative sustainable initiative with meaningful social impact, that transforms old garments into new pieces, whilst also selling handmade art prints. Through Remade Designs, she donates all proceeds to the Agia Anna shelter for abused girls, while also organizing art workshops and empowerment activities, working closely with them. Furthermore, the website hosts a series of blogs written by teenagers from across the world, discussing contemporary issues from politics to philosophy.
She is also the illustrator and author of the bilingual children’s book When Stars Unite: a tale of diversity, friendship and interdependence, which strives to fulfill the dreams of children across Greece, through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Additionally, she has created the first English literary magazine of her school, The Lyre, encouraging students to express their ideas regardless of their backgrounds. Today, she edits the texts and designs the visual identity of this publication, aiming to pass the magazine onto younger leaders in the years to come.
Throughout her work, she combines art, sustainability and social action, with the goal of giving voice and strength to girls of her generation.
