Nada

Employee, The Lotus Flower

The Hope Brigade Kurdistan, 2021

My name is Nada and I'm 28 years old. I'm from Shingal, I live in Esyian camp, and I work for the lotus flower organisation. I make videos on the camp WhatsApp group for awareness about Covid-19 because we aren’t able to meet people in their homes to talk about it. While the virus is a big part of our community and the world, education has come to a halt in so many places. The schools in the camps have not been in session since March of 2020 and the kids have gone months without learning new things and progressing in their education. This simply can’t be the case for information about Covid-19, or else the problem of it’s spread would never be solved. Online learning has become the only way for education to continue, and so we had to join the trend and teach our awareness programs in a way that people can reach them – online through Whatsapp.
