In 1969, when I was a 12 year old at school, opportunities weren’t around for girls to play football. I decided to form my own team and to be part of it. It’s been a really exciting but very challengin progression to where we are today.
Recently I got my British Empire Medal. At the time, that was 54 years of developing young women into adults, playing football, ferrying people around, and doing everything really."
I often look back and think that without people like me playing the sport and encouraging others to do that, we wouldn’t be where we are now. We’re the sort of pathfinders.
