Vanessa Veneti-Kottika is a transgender woman, parent, activist, writer, radio producer, and feminist. She is a co-founder, alongside Anna Kouroupi, of Transgender Greece, a newly established organisation advocating for the rights and visibility of transgender people. She is also a member of the March 8 Feminist Assembly.
Her activism focuses on human rights and transgender rights. She has written extensively for print and digital media and has advocated for transgender rights at both national and European levels, including through appearances before the Hellenic Parliament and the European Parliament and meetings with political representatives.
She has contributed to the development of a legal framework and case law concerning transgender parenthood. Her work also extends into the arts: she wrote the lyrics for a lullaby dedicated to her child in collaboration with El Sistema Greece and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, with the work subsequently presented at Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also participated in a performance exploring her experience of transition as a parent.
