Vassilia Kaga is a queer, feminist curator and performer. Through their multifaceted practice, they challenge heteronormative, white, and dominant narratives in art and the public sphere. They graduated from the Department of Communication, Media, and Culture at Panteion University, specialising in Cultural Management. Vassilia has worked in self-organised artistic projects in Greece, Germany, and Sweden, focused on empowering marginalised voices. In 2017, they initiated the Aye Mari exhibition series in Berlin, exploring queer curation as a tool for healing and empowerment. Vassilia challenges academic language in curatorial texts, adopting poetic manifestos for a more inclusive artistic experience. They have been awarded the ARTWORKS (2020/21) fellowship in and are a Curating Fellow of the SNF Artist Fellowship Program. Since 2022, they have been studying Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and working at the art space The Intermission and the art advisory company Artemis Contemporary Inc. In 2024, their first art book, Seminaria (Mpataria Editions), was published. They continue their research on art as a space for collective healing and political emancipation, exploring new forms of curation and artistic production that deconstruct dominant power structures.
