Reclaim the Night - Louder Together

Celebrating all women, women’s rights and empowering women to reclaim the night. Artists Soph (Cherry Seraph) and Vic offer a 90-minute workshop to encourage a creation of words that honours being heard, speaking up and claiming our safety in a community setting. Using word prompts, protest poetry/chants, recording software and sound effects, participants will work together to produce a soundtrack to be played at Rotherham’s Reclaim the Night on Thursday 26 November.

This workshop is open to all abilities, you don't have to have written or created music before. This workshop is aimed at ages 14+ however younger participants will be welcomed, just be aware some topics may arise that aren't suitable for younger audiences.

Sophie Russell/Cherry Seraph - Cherry Seraph is the solo alt-pop electronic project of queer producer, artist and multi-instrumentalist Sophie Russell. Cherry has received support from BBC Introducing, Plastic Magazine (“soul-stirring vocals”), Obscure Sound, Jarred Up (“reminiscent of The Japanese House”) and offers for coverage from Earmilk. She has been coined by Leeds’ own Crash Records as ‘The Next Big Thing’ and her music is grounded in her sapphic experiences, as well as the natural world around her.

Vic Leeson - Vic Leeson is a poet, psychotherapist and activist from Rotherham, South Yorkshire working across Yorkshire and beyond to support various communities in exploring and speaking their truths. Vic has performed at Leeds Lit Fest, Leeds Poetry Fest and Counter Point Arts Festival. She has been showcased by Live Wire Poetry supporting Hollie McNish and Maria Ferguson and performed alongside Joelle Taylor, Salena Godden and Toria Garbutt.
