WOW 365: Climate Anxiety & Soothing Our Nervous System
A creative workshop
This event is available for WOW 365 Members. Sign up here for access to this and dozens of other live and recorded events coming up in the coming months!
The climate crisis and an increasingly uncertain political landscape can have a profound impact on our emotional wellbeing. Constant exposure to difficult news, environmental concerns and the feeling that so much is beyond our control can leave us feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected or exhausted.
In this conversational and creative workshop, we’ll explore practical ways to navigate the anxieties that arise from the world around us. Together, we’ll consider how our minds and bodies respond to ongoing uncertainty and discover gentle, everyday practices to help soothe our nervous systems, restore a sense of balance and build resilience.
Through accessible creative exercises, mindful reflection and shared conversation, we’ll explore how art and simple everyday rituals can support our wellbeing. We’ll consider how to create moments of calm, strengthen our connection to ourselves and others, and cultivate the inner resources needed to face a changing world.
This session is an opportunity to pause, reflect and explore ways of caring for yourself while staying connected to the issues that matter. You’ll come away with practical tools and creative approaches that you can return to in everyday life, particularly when the news or the future feels overwhelming.
No artistic experience is needed. You won't be asked to create a masterpiece or share anything you're uncomfortable with. All you'll need is a blank piece of paper and a pen or pencil, along with a willingness to explore creativity as a gentle tool for mental wellbeing. Feel free to come with your camera on or off and participate in the way you're most comfortable with.
Led by Promina Shrestha, who is an illustrator and comics artist currently immersed in creative projects while farming in Nepal, alongside therapists Chham Kumari Gurung and Dr Shailesh Shrestha.
