WOW is so excited to announce the 2023 London WOW Festival will include an exclusive, one-off screening of Suzie Miller’s award-winning play Prima Facie, starring Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) in her astonishing West End debut.
Following sold out runs in cinemas across the UK, Prima Facie returns to the big screen for one night only on International Women's Day (8 March, 6.15pm) at BFI Southbank, in the run up to the 13th London WOW Festival from 10-12 March at Southbank Centre.
Directed by Justin Martin, Prima Facie features Tessa (played by Comer), a young, brilliant barrister. She has worked her way up from working class origins to be at the top of her game; defending; cross examining and winning. An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge.
Prima Facie takes us to the heart of where emotion and experience collide with the rules of the game.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with guests including WOW Founder Jude Kelly and Helena Kennedy KC.
Tickets are £20 (concessions £16) and go on sale on BFI Southbank's website on 9 February (Patrons/Champions: 6 February / Members booking: 7 February).
This screening is made possible with the kind support of Empire Street Productions and National Theatre Live. A donation from each ticket sold will go to support The WOW Foundation’s work.
