Tell us about the artwork

This artwork is about gender equality and women's rights. Even in this modern society, some women are not being treated as equals to men, even as the feminist movement is growing.

What inspired you to make your artwork?

The situation in Afghanistan.

What action would you like people to take to make the world better for girls and non-binary young people today?

I would like people to understand how those women must be feeling and that we must take into consideration what talents and help they could bring into our society if they were given the opportunity they deserve. Gender equality should be talked about more in schools, so that future generations will be more aware of this situation. Not just in schools but everywhere. The more people know, the more they can help.

This artwork is part of WOWsers: A Creative Explosion, an exhibition supported by BBC Children In Need's impact programme focused on children’s mental health, A Million & Me.
