What does hope look like in the face of injustice?

The Hope Brigade is WOW’s powerful photography exhibition series celebrating women leading change across ten urgent global issues – from climate justice to conflict, education to healthcare.

The first edition was created with WOW Festival partners around the world, in collaboration with Google Arts & Culture in 2021. The international project features portraits by emerging photographers from Beijing to Brisbane and is available to explore online. Each image tells the story of a woman working on the frontlines of activism and community leadership – often unsung, but always extraordinary.

Since launching, subsequent editions have collected together more incredible women, girls and non-binary people with The Hope Brigade growing each year.

Editions of The Hope Brigade have been exhibited in London’s King’s Cross as part of The Outside Art Project, in Angel, London, Selfridges Manchester, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, and across the Athens Metro system. It invites passersby and online audiences alike to witness a movement through the lens of artistry, courage and determination.
